Opening: Michael P. Anderson (Dominican Republic) COUNTERPRODUCTIVE

When I create my work, I like to feel that I challenge minds and that I slowly liberate them from those checkered, concrete patterns that imprison them. Art is my way of going beyond my own limits and forging a message for those who place limits on others and for those who feel limited.

My work is structured on existential occurrences that have tied me down at a given moment. My surroundings and those circumstances -which are difficult to put into words-, brought me to art, a transforming instrument through which I release my ideas and emotions without fear of being judged or questioned.

My art is nourished by all the circumstances that I encounter; this is how I face my life and benefit from it in a positive way.

I would never have imagined that something so personal could transcend and result interesting and attractive in the eyes of others, even for those whom I criticize in my work. How beautiful is art!

Anderson was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic in 1992 and became interested in the arts and design at an early age. After finishing high school, he entered the school of design at Altos de Chavón, where he finished his studies in 2014 with a specialization in communication design and fine arts. He currently works as a photographer and designer. We are thrilled to host his first exhibition.
