The daugthters of Huitaca
The Inter-American Development Bank Staff Association is pleased to invite you to view the work of colombian artist Carlos Saavedra
Carlos Saavedra, Colombian professional photographer, wanted to get involved with the art of photography from an early age. His questioning of the Colombian identity allowed him to develop his latest project THE DAUGHTERS OF HUITACA, about representative women from different regions of Colombia, where through their ancient and primitive traces of his descendants were able to show hidden places and faces of Colombia. These 34 pieces in analog photography with high quality Framed, have given him the opportunity to be selected by one of the most prestigious galleries in England, the Gallery Gettyimages, in the middle of last year. With this project, the photographer was also selected for the annual photo contest National Geographic that was discharged in mass circulation national and international communication at the beginning of the year 2012. In Colombia, the work was shown at Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Cinematheque District from March to April as part of the celebration Women´s Month and as a prelude to the exhibition in the U.S.A.
