We are pleased to present The Force, a solo exhibition by Chilean artist Felipe Oyarzún. The works contemplate the infinite through images that are traces left by the psyche during its process of transfiguration. By irradiating in some way the idea of a hidden dimension, Oyarzún invites us to decipher the work by tapping into our subconscious.
"The area, in which the artist finally works, is the psyche itself. The works produced are only traces, the visible mark of interior work. Perfecting a technique, purifying a form, and establishing a discipline, is how man, the creatorartist, generates a suitable field, a fertile soil where he grows and cultivates himself. There he deploys the multiple dimensions of his being and, through constant trial and experiment, achieves the transmutation of matter, the unification of fragments, the integration of opposites, and finally the complete metamorphosis of the human-animal, the programmed machine, into an awakened man." Felipe Oyarzún
Born in Los Andes, Chile, Oyarzún now lives and works in Amsterdam and Santiago. He studied graphic design at Universidad del Pacífico, attended art workshops at Universidad Católica de Chile, and undertook postgraduate studies in painting at the Escuela Massana in Barcelona. His work has been presented in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Chile, Greece, Holland, Mexico, Spain and the US. In 2010, Oyarzún received the first place award from Artistas Siglo XXI, bicentennial version, in Chile. Oyarzúns work is more than an aesthetic exercise, it is an existential feeling connected to the phenomenon of life and to our human existence. It proposes an opportunity to explore human possibilities and natural laws through the picturesque exercise.
